Counseling Philosophy & Approach


There are many different ideas and beliefs about optimal mental health. We believe that each person has the right to receive counseling to help them achieve their idea of optimum health. Our therapeutic practice is based in Structural and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. The practice includes individuals, couples, and families. Our counselor has worked in the education field since 2006. While in the educational setting he has worked primarily with individuals with behavioral and learning differences or disabilities. In his private counseling practice his approach can feel directive, especially when working with a family. Each client has unique counseling needs and he strives to meet those needs. 


We work to empower our clients with the skills, strategies and supportive environment to reach their academic, social and personal potential.

First Responders and Their Families

As a former professional firefighter Michael has spent years working to understand the unique dynamics between first responders and their friends, colleagues, and family. He is able to work with an individual or the entire family to cope with the situations that arise within the family of our first responders.
